Privacy Policy

Effective date: September 10, 2026

Stance Scan is developed and published by Hans Ramsey Consulting Inc ("we," "us," "our"). This policy explains what happens to your data when you use Stance Scan.

The short version: Stance Scan does not collect, transmit, or store any of your data on our servers, because it doesn't use servers. Everything happens on your Mac. We have no analytics, no ad tracking, no account system, and nothing to sell — there is no mechanism in the app for us to receive your data even if we wanted to.

What the app does on your behalf: when you run a scan, Stance Scan makes network requests to three places, and only these. First, the website you enter — this is the site being scanned, and the requests are the scan itself. Second, a DNS-over-HTTPS resolver (Google or Cloudflare's public DNS service), used only to verify you control a site before scanning it, by checking for a verification record you placed there yourself; exempted for local addresses and well-known public test targets. Third, Ollama, if you turn on the optional "local AI" feature — this connects only to 127.0.0.1, the copy of Ollama running on your own Mac, never to a remote server. If you don't have Ollama installed, this feature is off by default and the app works fully without it. No request in the app goes to any server operated by us. We never see your scan targets, your results, or anything else about how you use the app.

What's stored, and where: verified site tokens are remembered locally using macOS's standard local app storage (UserDefaults) so the app doesn't ask again for 90 days — this never leaves your Mac and is never sent to us. Scan reports are generated entirely on your device; you choose where to save them using the standard macOS save dialog, and we never receive a copy. Everything else — scan results, findings, the sites you've entered — exists only in the app's memory while it's running, and disappears when you close it, unless you've explicitly saved a report yourself.

Third parties: Stance Scan integrates with no third-party analytics, advertising, or crash-reporting services. The only third-party software involved is Ollama, an open-source tool you install yourself and run entirely on your own machine (see ollama.com); its use is optional and off by default.

Children's privacy: Stance Scan is a developer/IT tool and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from children, and per the sections above, the app does not collect information from anyone.

Changes to this policy: if this policy changes, we'll update the effective date above. Continued use of the app after a change means you accept the updated policy.
